Municipal Kitchens

ngbk Berlin, 2024

Municipal Kitchens reimagined communal eating in cities. It was a collective curatorial project by Cherry Truluck, Johann Arens, Hanna Baumann, Miriam Lowack and Alicja Rogalska for nGbK Berlin. The exhibition gathered works by international and local artists and collectives that expose the current state and injustice of food systems, as well as ones that propose new forms of community-based eating. The artworks were accompanied by a weekly event program and free-of-charge communal meals, transforming the nGbK space – a former fast food restaurant – into a public kitchen. This multitude of artistic practices were brought around a central kitchen table installation by Another Provision and a working kitchen, hosted by food curator and chef Cherry Truluck. Together, the works develop visions for a different kind of food culture.
